Hi, my name is Wesley Jesus
and I'm a freelancer digital artist from São Paulo, Brazil.
When it comes to art I usually like to adopt a very "non practical" view of it, in the sense that within the context of our modernized, fast paced world, I like to think of it as a meaningful endeavor, much deeper than the objectification that art often finds itself in.
To me, art is meaning, and that meaning has the power to reach over distances and touch people. That's why I make it,
and that's why all of us consume it.
On all projects I work in, my main goal is to find the tone and beats of the client's ideas and bring that to life, paving ways for their projects to trully catch not just the eyes but also hearts and minds of whoever sees it.
Hopefully, together, we can all give this world
more emotional and captivating ideas.
PERSONAL PROJECTS
SOLTERRA
Solterra is an indie game that I'm developping as means of learning game development skills, as well as all the artistic process involved: concept art, 3D modeling and texturing, and working with tech art in Unreal Engine 5.
The game is a souls-like action adventure set in a fantasy world inspired by brazilian culture and folklore. As a completely new area, I feel very excited working on this project as I get to experiment freely, perfecting ideas and achieving new skills at each step of the process. I hope to, one day, get to share this project with the world, excite people and incite curiosity, as this game's core design principle is to be an "art sandbox".
CHILDREN OF MARS
Children of Mars is a comic book that I've been writing for the last few years. It started as a small project in 2019 and evolved into a larger, deeper story.
It dives into the journey of Luka, a young man who has a strong desire to right his father's wrongdoings by fixing the broken society of Mars, many thousands of years from now.
As both a writer and illustrator, I've allowed myself to take my own time and set this as a side project that I get back into every opportunity I get. This way, it can evolve and grow into an experience that may one day captivate your heart and mind, as you follow these characters' struggles to make the difference and create a better world for all of the oppressed.
